Budgam, Sep 29 (KNO): Member of Parliament from Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency and National Conference (NC) leader, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi on Monday alleged that by-elections in two J&K Assembly constituencies are being “deliberately delayed.” Speaking to media at Charar-i-Sharief, Ruhullah, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) alleged: In 2018 dissolution of the J&K Assembly was followed by a planned delay in polls to keep the legislature non-functional. This allowed the government to push through the Article 370 decision using the Governor’s discretion. Elections should have been held within six months, but the Assembly was kept vacant,” he said. Ruhullah also criticized the continued delay in holding by-elections in Budgam and Nagrota constituencies, saying, “Delaying elections is unconstitutional. Polls should have been conducted long ago so that people get proper representation.”—(KNO)
